Members Of Staff And Fans Of Yinka Ayefele’s Fresh FM Protest Against Demolition


Members of staff of Yinka Ayefele’s radio station, Fresh FM, and fans of the gospel artiste on Thursday protested against the planned demolition of the radio station by the Oyo State Government. The ultimatum was said to have expired on Wednesday.

The Director, Yinka Ayefele Nigeria Limited, Mr David Ajiboye, told journalists that a court injunction had been obtained by Ayefele’s counsel restraining the government from carrying out the demolition.

The staff members and other sympathisers gathered in front of the radio station with placards in anticipation that agents of the government would come with bulldozers to bring down the building

Yinka Ayefele has filed a lawsuit against the Oyo state government over plans to demolish his Music House, housing his radio station, Fresh FM.

Punch reports that the state government had marked the structure for demolition for “contravening the state’s planning laws”.

The singer, through his counsel told court that the building was constructed following due process and approval from the state government.

In the exparte motion filed through his counsel Olayinka Bolanle, Ayefele sought a court order restraining the government pending the determination of the suit.

The hearing for the exparte motion has however been adjourned till Monday.
